1. Who we are
AstroTamil (astrotamil.in) is a Tamil-language astrology portal offering a daily panchangam, a free jathagam (birth chart) tool, numerology calculators, and a directory of astrologers, numerologists and vastu consultants. This policy explains what personal data we handle, why, and the choices you have. It is written to align with India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act).
2. Data you enter into our tools
Jathagam and numerology tools. To generate a birth chart or numerology result, you enter details such as name, date of birth, time of birth and place of birth. These details are used only to compute your result. We do not store them on our servers. The jathagam tool forwards the birth details you enter to a third-party astrological computation API to perform the calculations and return the chart; the details are transmitted for that purpose only. Your result is displayed to you and is not saved to a profile or database by us.
Panchangam. Viewing the daily panchangam requires no personal data.
3. Astrologer contact (lead) form
When you use the form to contact an astrologer listed in our directory, we collect only your name and phone number. We verify that the phone number is yours using a one-time password (OTP) sent to that number. We share your name and phone number with the specific astrologer you chose, and only with your explicit consent, which you give when submitting the form. We do not sell this data, share it with anyone other than your chosen astrologer, or use it for marketing.
4. Directory listings
Business information in our astrologer directory (practitioner or business name, town, services offered) is compiled from publicly available sources. We do not publish phone numbers on listing pages. If a listing is about you, you may claim it (to manage and correct it) or request its removal at any time by emailing contact@astrotamil.in.
5. Cookies and analytics
- Cloudflare analytics — we use Cloudflare's privacy-focused analytics to understand aggregate site traffic. It does not build individual visitor profiles.
- Google AdSense — ads may be served on this site by Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies (including, where applicable, personalised-advertising cookies) to serve and measure ads. You can manage ad personalisation via Google's Ads Settings at adssettings.google.com. AdSense cookie behaviour is governed by Google's own privacy policy.
6. Purpose limitation and consent
We collect the minimum data needed for each feature and use it only for the stated purpose: computing your requested result, or connecting you with the astrologer you chose. We do not repurpose it. Where consent is the basis of processing (the lead form), you may withdraw consent by contacting us, and we will stop the related processing.
7. Your rights (DPDP Act 2023)
As a data principal under the DPDP Act, you have the right to access a summary of the personal data we hold about you, the right to correction and erasure of your data, the right to withdraw consent, and the right to grievance redressal. To exercise any of these rights, email contact@astrotamil.in. Since we do not store tool inputs, most requests will concern lead-form submissions or directory listings.
8. Grievance contact
For any privacy question, complaint or data request: contact@astrotamil.in. We aim to acknowledge grievances promptly and resolve them within the timelines contemplated by applicable law.
9. Children
Our services are intended for general audiences. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children; the lead form requires OTP verification of a working phone number.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the site evolves (for example, when new tools launch). The effective date at the top of this page will always reflect the current version. Material changes will be reflected here before they take effect.
